Free LEGO Event at Borders!

You are invited to Borders LEGO Block party event on Saturday November 6th at 2:00 pm. The theme is the lost city of Atlantis. There will  LEGOS, fun, giveaways and games.

I have called and talked to the West Lebanon store and they are participating so head on in for some fun! Great indoor activity for this cold weather we have been having.

Claremont Fireman's Parade

Claremont will be having its Annual Fireman's Parade this Friday (Oct. 8th) starting at 6:30 pm. The Parade route will be as follows: Claremont Middle School to South Street, Pleasant Street, Opera House Square, Broad Street. The Parade end will be at the American Legion.

Home Depot Kids Workshops

Today (and every 1st Saturday of the month) Home Depot has a FREE kids workshop. Workshops take place between 9 and noon. Today's project is the cute fire boat pictured above.

Claremont Chili Cook off

The Claremont Chili Cook Off is this Saturday. (October 2nd)

According to the website, the schedule for this year’s Fall Festival includes the following:

• Registration for the 5K Road Race, Broad Street Park, 7:30-8:45 a.m.
• Race begins at 9:00 a.m.
• Fiske Free Library Book & Bake Sale, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
• Sidewalk Sales featuring downtown vendors, local crafts and more
• Pleasant Street/Opera House Square; music by The Flames, Pleasant Street, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
• Cook-Off and pie contest, Pleasant Street,11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
• Youth fun and activities, including a climbing wall and obstacle course, 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Broad Street Park.

Fall Fest at The Enfield Shaker Museum

Fall Foliage Weekend & Harvest Festival

 

This weekend the Enfield Shaker Museum is having a fall festival. All the festivities are included with general admission to the museum. Admission prices are:

• Adult, $8.50
• Senior (age 62+), $7.50
• College Students (with valid ID), $6.00
• Youth (10-17), $4.00
• Children (under 10), Free
• Museum Members, Free

From their website: Enjoy horse drawn wagon rides and see other animals! Use old-fashioned hand-cranked machines and make ice cream, butter and apple cider! Make your own cornhusk dolls, pinecone bird feeders, wee fuzzy sheep and child-sized scarecrows! Jump in a bale of hay! Other activities include dipping candles and making pressed flower bookmarks. Craftspeople will also demonstrate weaving, rug hooking, chair caning, dowsing, and spinning. Lunch will also be served, including Eldress Bertha Lindsay's rosewater apple pie. There will also be a tasting table of various items including onion soup at the "A-Peeling Onions" table.

October Hopstop: Gongs and Shadows

OCTOBER HOPSTOP:

GONGS AND SHADOWS with Jody Diamond, this Saturday, October 2nd at 11 a.m. in Alumni Hall inside the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College.  This is a FREE event geared towards preK to 3rd grade children and their adult companions.

Whether you become part of the gamelan orchestra (royal orchestra of Bali) or participate as a shadow puppeteer, you'll delight in learning about the music and theater of Indonesia at this Saturday's HopStop! Experience community music making and learn about other cultures.

HopStops are entertaining, hands-on free programs introducing the youngest audiences to the wonders of the performing arts. These hour-long interactive presentations are an engaging way to stimulate the curious minds of children. HopStops are offered one Saturday each month at 11 am throughout the school year, often in conjunction with Visiting Artist performances.

• HopStops are free and open to the public; no tickets or registration required. Doors open at 10:30. Seating is limited. For more information, call 603.646.2010.

18th Annual Glory Days Festival

18th Annual Glory Days Festival in White River Junction, Vermont will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 9am to 5pm. $3.00  for Admission.

HopStop Free Concert with Stuart Paton-Burlington Taiko

HopStop Family series will be kicking off their 2010/11 on September 11th at 11:00 am with Stuart Paton-Burlington Taiko at the Hop Plaza. (weather permitting) This is a FREE event and are geared towards preK to 3rd grade children and their families.  This event will be held outdoors and you are invited to bring your  lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy this great show together in early fall.

Experience explosive taiko drumming and learn about the shishimai (Lion Dance) with members of Burlington Taiko. Stuart Paton, the group's founder and Artistic Director, was raised in Japan. He has been teaching
children about the pageantry and ritual of these revered art forms for more than two decades. Come prepared to help Stuart and a member of Burlington Taiko with a joyful -- and very noisy -- finale!

2nd Annual Summer Festival-Free!

Purple Crayon Productions has a  FREE event happening this weekend that is going to be GREAT for all ages!!  

2nd Annual Summer Festival is on Saturday, July 17th from 10am - 4pm. There will be a children's band in the morning "The Swing Peepers", a VINS live bird show, a silent auction of hand painted / decorated bird houses, art projects, music by local talent Bow Thayer and Jeff Berlin, guided nature walks with a National Park Ranger and food supplied by Upper Valley Farm to School Network (for a small fee) plus much more!! • Woodstock, VT - Parade will begin at town green at 10:30 am. From 1:30 to 4 p.m., there will be a Civil War Reenactment in Woodstock taking place behind Woodstock History Center (26 Elm St.) put on by the Woodstock Historical Socitey. (Donations accepted.) Monday May 31st

• Tunbridge, VT - Starting at 9 am there is a bake, book and plant sale is being held at the Library and Parsonage lawn. A Memorial Day Service will be held at the Town Hall at 11 am. Chicken BBQ (cost $5-9/person) will be held at the Tunbridge Fairgrounds following a dedication ceremony at the town cemetery at 11:40. Reservations requested for the BBQ. • Enfield, NH - The parade starts at 10 am at Huse Park and ends at Veterans Memorial Park on Rte 4. An U.S. Army Blackhawk Helicopter will land at the field at Huse Park and be on display at 11:20 am.
  

• Piermont, NH - The parade begins at 11:00 am and ends at the Old Church Building where a display of the Piermont Farm Project will be open featuring former and current Piermont area sheep and dairy farming operations. A barbeque sponsored by the Peirmont Village School will also be held on the school grounds near the Old Church Building.

• Lebanon, NH - Memorial Day Commemoration in Lebanon 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Soldiers Memorial Building, North Park Street. Coffee and donuts provided by the Odd Fellows, Mascoma Lodge #20. Free. 603-448-2280.

Interested in exploring sign language with your little ones? Check out Upper Valley Super Signers upcoming Free Signing Story Time.

Signing story time will be held May 3rd at the Upper Valley Events Center (80 US Route 5 South Norwich, VT) from 10-11 am for children ages 0-5 with a parent/caregiver. They will read two books focused on the signs for colors and animals, draw, play games, and just have fun!! Join them for a unique fun educational experience.
