Parenting Class at The Family Place

The Family Place is offering a parenting class starting September 15th. They released this information about the class and are requesting that people call to register ASAP!

Dear Parent,

In celebration of our 25 years of service, and in an effort to enhance our commitment to support the positive growth and development of all parent. The Family Place has launched a community-based parent education program. We are pleased to offer a 3 Session Active Parenting Workshop Series Confident Parent- Cooperative Child at The Family Place. 

What you can expect from the parenting workshops:

• An explanation of the developmental stages of your child; understanding your child's behavior and why it's important. 
• Different parenting styles-how to apply what works best for you and your child. 
• Logical and easy-to-implement strategies resulting in less conflict, fewer power struggles, and a more cooperative child. 
• Effective discipline (vs. punishment):how it works- and why!
• The power of choice: building your child's confidence.
• Fostering cooperation with the "When/Then" and "ACT" methods.
• Tantrums-why they happen and how to avoid them. 
• Natural and logical consequences-how they teach your child a sense of responsibility and independence. 
• The value of encouragement and how it fosters healthy self-esteem. 
• Active Parenting Guide/Workbook outlining the curriculum. 
• Being surrounded by others who are also involved in the challenges (and successes!) of parenting young children.
• FUN! A light-hearted approach to learning effective parenting skills. 

Please join us for three-evenings of interactive sharing and learning, while befitting form the support and encouragement of friends and other parents. Nancy Rosenblum, a member of The Family Place staff, who is a mother of two and a retired preschool teacher with 20 years of experience, will lead the workshops.
